Transparent burglar bars are made from Lexan polycarbonate rather than steel, so a window can be secured without anything solid crossing the view. The bars fit into a specially extruded aluminium channel, come in 6mm x 30mm and 8mm x 30mm profiles, and can be supplied unarmed or armed. Armed bars are wired into your alarm system, so the moment anyone tries to cut through one, the alarm goes off.
Lexan is the material police use for riot shields, which is the clearest way to say what it is: a transparent sheet built to be hit. That is what makes a see-through bar a serious barrier rather than a cosmetic one, and it is why the bars can stay relatively slim and still do the job.
The armed option is the part most people have not seen before. An electrical pulse runs from your alarm control panel through wires fitted at both ends of the bars and wired as a permanent zone. The sensor wires are connected in series, so the alarm triggers the instant the wire is cut, which means the bars are monitored around the clock rather than only when the alarm is set. The unarmed option is the same bar without the loop.
Because they obstruct nothing, these suit the windows where steel would be the wrong answer: a room where the view is the point, a frontage where bars would change the character of the building, or a home where a resident will not accept a barred window. The bars can be pre-manufactured at the factory, which cuts the time spent on site.

Armed bars need an alarm control panel to run the permanent zone from. Where there is no alarm on the property, the unarmed bars are the same product without the loop. Sizes and bar spacing are confirmed at the free on-site assessment.
