A trellis security gate is a retractable steel barrier that concertinas into a narrow stack against the wall, so the opening stays usable when the gate is open. You will also hear these called concertina gates or sliding security gates. DEFENDoor® makes four models, each tailored to your exact opening.
What separates the four models is how much steel stands between an intruder and the opening. Most run on 19mm single steel uprights, and the entry-level DX-215 steps down to 16mm. The flights are riveted at every join, and a powder-coated steel bottom track runs along the base to reinforce the whole gate.
The single upright is the part that does the security work. Two bars joined down their length leave a seam a crowbar can work into, and one solid bar has none.

Every model is custom-built to the measured opening, runs on single steel uprights, and locks with a star-key hook lock. What sets them apart is the amount of steel reinforcement in the gate and how many locks hold it shut.

Four sets of diamond-cross flights on 19mm single steel uprights, locked by two star-key hook locks. It is all steel, with no plastic or nylon structural parts. Five-year guarantee.
DX-310
Three sets of diamond-cross flights on 19mm single steel uprights, with a single star-key hook lock. It shares the same all-steel construction and five-year guarantee.
DX-215
The entry point to the range. It has two sets of diamond crosses plus a half-flight set on a 16mm single steel bar, with one star-key hook lock. Its nylon 6 bottom bolts spin in the track, which makes them hard to cut. Two-year guarantee.

All-steel, no plastic
The DX-222, DX-420, and DX-310 use no plastic or nylon structural parts. Their bottom bolts are solid steel encased in glass-filled nylon, so they run more quietly while the steel core carries the load.

19mm single uprights
One continuous bar per upright, so there is no seam for a crowbar to separate. The DX-215 uses a 16mm single steel bar on the same principle.

High-security star-key locks
Star-key hook locks resist picking and snapping. Two can be fitted to a single gate, which the DX-222 and DX-420 carry as standard.

Stainless-steel rivets
On the DX-310, DX-420, and DX-222 the rivets are stainless steel, so the joints that hold the flights together resist corrosion for the life of the gate. The entry-level DX-215 uses SABS-approved aluminium rivets.
