Burglar Bars

Window Security Fixtures

The DX trellis range built to window openings: single steel bars and high-security flights, in four models, for windows that still need to open.

Window security fixtures are the DEFENDoor® DX range, but built to a window opening rather than a doorway. They come in four models, the DX-222, DX-420, DX-310, and DX-215, each made from single steel bars fitted with high-security flights, with stainless steel rivets at every essential joint so the fixture does not corrode from the inside out.

The reason to choose a fixture over fixed bars is that the window still works. Bars embedded in the brickwork secure an opening permanently, while a DX fixture secures it and still lets you clear the opening when you want it clear.

These are the same four models as our trellis security gates, built to a different opening. That means the same single steel bars with no seam at a join, the same high-security flights, and the same stainless rivets. The trellis gates page carries the full model-by-model breakdown if you want to compare flight counts and upright gauges before choosing.

The finish is powder-coated and can be colour matched to your existing window frames, so a fixture blends in with the frames it is fitted against.

What you get

  • Single steel bars

One continuous bar per upright rather than two bars joined along their length, so there is no seam for a crowbar to separate. It is the same principle the trellis gates are built on.

  • High-security flights

The flights are what stand between an intruder and the opening, and they are riveted rather than bolted. How many flights a fixture carries depends on which of the four models you choose.

  • Stainless steel rivets

All essential rivets are stainless steel, so the joints holding the flights together resist corrosion and do not fail years before the steel around them does.

  • The window still opens

A fixture leaves you able to clear the opening, which is what you want on a window used for ventilation, for access, or as an escape route. That is what sets it apart from bars embedded in the brickwork.

  • Four models to choose from

The range runs from the entry-level DX-215 up to the DX-222, with the DX-420 and DX-310 between them. Which one suits an opening depends on the window and the level of protection you want.

  • Payment terms available

You can pay over up to 24 months through FeverTree, as on any DEFENDoor® order.

Models and specifications

The specification shared across all four models. Flight counts and upright gauges vary by model, and the trellis security gates page carries that breakdown in full, since these are the same four models.

Frequently asked questions

What is a window security fixture?
A window security fixture is the DEFENDoor® DX range built to a window opening rather than a doorway, made from single steel bars with high-security flights, in four models. Unlike burglar bars embedded in the brickwork, a fixture leaves you able to clear the opening when you want it clear.
How is this different from burglar bars?
Burglar bars are embedded into the wall and secure the window permanently, while a fixture secures the opening and still lets it be cleared. That is what you want on a window used for ventilation, for access, or as an escape route. Fixed bars are a streamlined, affordable answer when a window does not need to open fully.
Are these the same as your trellis security gates?
Window fixtures use the same four models and the same construction as our trellis gates, single steel bars, high-security flights, and stainless steel rivets, built to a window opening instead of a doorway. The trellis security gates page carries the full model-by-model breakdown, including flight counts and upright gauges.
Which model should I choose?
The DX-222 sits at the top of the range and the DX-215 is the entry-level model, with the DX-420 and DX-310 between them. What separates them is how much steel stands between an intruder and the opening. Our consultants will talk it through at the free assessment with a sample to hand.
Why are the rivets stainless steel?
The rivets hold the flights together, and a corroded rivet can undo a fixture long before the steel around it gives way. Using stainless steel throughout means the joints last as long as the rest of the fixture, which counts for most in coastal and humid areas.
How long is the guarantee on a window security fixture?
Window security fixtures carry five years on the DX-222, DX-420, and DX-310, and two years on the entry-level DX-215, the same terms these four models carry as trellis gates.
Can I pay window fixtures off over time?
Yes. You can pay any DEFENDoor® order off over a term of up to 24 months through our finance partner, FeverTree.
